Elmer Guidotti, 88, of Soledad, passed away on May 30, 2016 at his home from a courageous battle with lung cancer. He was born February 5, 1928 in Salinas, CA.

Elmer was a farmer for 72 years in the Soledad Mission District. He was extremely proud of his sugar beet, small white beans, carrot, broccoli, and lettuce crops; and most recently pinot noir wine grapes. He made many friends selling alfalfa and oats. He was a partner in the Guidotti Brothers Farming with his two brothers, Milton and Jim.

His family and friends knew him as Sir. He and Irene celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary last October.

Elmer was preceded in death by his parents Adeline and Henry Guidotti, and son Michael.

Elmer is survived by his wife Irene of Soledad, son John (Susan) of Salinas, Fred (Judy) of Lockwood and Janice Andreotti of Soledad; grandchildren Jeffrey, Brian and Christopher (Colleen) Guidotti, Allyson (Austin) Bryant and Brandon Andreotti. Additional survivors are his siblings; Irene Graulich (Norman), Ella Guidotti, Milton Guidotti (Rosemary), Dorothy Marci (Roy); and Jim Guidotti (Paula) and numerous nephews and nieces.

Elmer was active in the Swiss-American Club, Arroyo Seco Rod and Gun Club, National Rifle Association, Soledad Fire District, and Foresters of America. He was a former member of the Mission Union Board of Trustees. He loved hunting on his deer ranch in the Santa Lucia Mountains.

Visitation will be held from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM followed by a Rosary and Funeral Mass on Monday, June 6, 2016 at Our Lady of Solitude Church, 235 Main Street, Soledad, CA 93906. A reception will follow in the Soledad Parish Hall to celebrate his life.

We would like to thank Adrianna, the VNA and Hospice for the care of our beloved father.

Donations can be made to your favorite charity. Funeral arrangements are by Woodyard Funeral Home.
